Does My New Minnesota Roof Come with Warranties?

Table of Contents

You can’t underestimate the vital role your Minnesota roof plays in weather-proofing your home.

Most new roofs have a warranty, but they aren’t all created equal. Choosing a professional company that works with industry-leading manufacturers means you get more bang for your buck regarding your warranty. Many new roof warranties now include shingles, labor, and installation costs.

What Kind of Warranty Does an Old Minnesota Roof Have?

The details of a Minnesota roof warranty are essential and something you should look at carefully before proceeding with your roof replacement. Roofing warranties in the past have been valid for 20 to 40 years.

Homeowners would choose a 30-year shingle, thinking it would last them 30 years. If there was a problem with the shingles within that time, they were only paid a pro-rated portion of the shingle cost. That pro-rated portion did not include labor and installation, dumpster costs, or the cost involved with tearing off the previous roof material. That often frustrated homeowners because they received less value from their warranty than expected.

GAF Warranties for Your New Minnesota Roof

At Craftsman’s Choice, we use GAF products that come with a lifetime shingle warranty. Because we are part of the 2% of contractors with a Master Elite Contractors certification, we can also offer a non-prorated lifetime warranty on asphalt roofs that includes materials and labor.

Our Master Elite Certification also allows us to offer additional warranties to our clients. GAF is willing to partner with us because we have been trained in their installation methods, which enables us to have the Silver and Golden Pledge options. The Golden Pledge sets a high standard for shingle warranties.

The Golden Pledge warranty includes any other GAF components you use in your roofing system, such as:

  • Ice and water shield
  • Shingles
  • Ridge caps

Because these components are designed to be installed together, GAF knows you are getting a quality product with a stellar installation.

The Golden Pledge warranty also goes up to 50 years on manufacturers’ defects. This non-prorated warranty covers tear-off, dumpster costs, and installation. If you have defective products within 50 years and the manufacturer is responsible, you will receive a new roof.

Included in the Golden pledge warranty is a 25-year workmanship warranty. All this means is that you can rest easy that your roof has been installed correctly using high-quality, durable products.

Working with Craftsman’s Choice

At Craftsman’s Choice, we know the manufacturers we collaborate with produce products we can trust. We want to back up product performance with a transparent and effective process.

  • We offer free consultations that allow us to chat with potential clients about their project goals.
  • We use satellite technology to take accurate measurements and specs of your roof and home, which allows us to create a custom quote.
  • We also do an on-site evaluation and thorough inspection of your current roof. This allows us to assess any apparent damage or areas of concern.

Once you are happy and sign off on the project, your roof replacement will take 2 to 3 days. This timeline will depend on what we find when we take off your old roofing material, but we will keep you informed every step of the way. To do this, our clients have access to an online portal to receive invoices and make payments. We also upload daily images to this portal to keep you informed, and it’s a place where you can ask any questions as the project progresses.
