The Craftsman’s Choice team brought new life to this 1920’s home in St. Paul, MN. James Hardie Dream Collection siding, trim and a new soffit and fascia system brought out the vintage appeal of this classic home.
The project began with the removal of the aging slate siding. The exterior was completely stripped down to the original sheathing to properly prepare for the siding installation. James Hardie Dream Collection 4-inch smooth lap siding was chosen for the body of the home. The narrow profile of this siding is a period appropriate choice that reinforces the vintage appeal of this St. Paul charmer. The same James Hardie Dream Collection 4-inch smooth lap siding was used on the gables for continuity. Crisp James Hardie Arctic White trim perfectly defines the windows, gables and corners. In addition, the existing soffit and fascia was removed and replaced with a vented aluminum soffit and fascia system.
The Craftsman’s Choice team then turned their attention to the existing front porch. A new header beam was installed to straighten out the sagging roof of the porch. The update continued with the addition of a custom composite railing system on the roof of the porch in crisp white. The railing crowns this updated front porch and ties in nicely with the Arctic White trim. The Craftsman’s Choice experts used 21st century materials to give years of life to this 20th century beauty.
