Arctic White James Hardie was the choice for this renovation. The Craftsman’s Choice team delivered a dramatic transformation of this historic home in South Minneapolis.
Craftsman’s Choice was brought into this project after a previous contractor had some struggles getting things right. Working with James Hardie siding takes experience with the product. When we got to this home, we needed to remove all of the siding, soffit and trim that had been installed improperly.
Installing a new rounded portico is no small project. On this project we had to take down the existing portico and start over.
When restoring a historic home such as this, there are many important factors to consider. We replicated the original window trim using Arctic White James Hardie trim. By installing thick sills and a drip cap on top of the trim boards, we were able to make the new high efficiency double paned windows look like the original 1950’s windows.
The corners on this home are very detailed and required a skilled craftsman to complete. Again, the homeowners wanted to retain the historical integrity of the home with building materials that would stand the test of time. These intricate corner details served this purpose well.
Trusting your historic home to a remodeling contractor can be a daunting proposition. We have completed hundreds of historical renovations over the last two decades. We love working on older homes and preserving them for the decades to come. As you consider hiring a Minneapolis siding contractor for a historical renovation, make sure you get a list of homes to go and take a look at. These types of projects are very time consuming and many contractors are wary of getting tied down too long on one project.
