Looking for James Hardie Minnesota projects? This is one of our favorites. These Edina Minnesota homeowners were looking to update their home and add some flavor to the front facade. James Hardie siding was the perfect selection for completing these goals.
One of the first things we did on this project was to replace the existing asphalt shingles. We used GAF Pewter Gray Timberline shingles.
We then removed the old siding and brick. Removing brick isn’t a small job, but can really help to update the look. Brick was used frequently in the past on Minnesota homes. Due to the high cost of installation, it is less popular now.
Once the brick and old vinyl siding was removed, we started on the portico. Since they didn’t have a lot of room on their front stoop they didn’t want columns holding up the front edge of the portico. We were able to fabricate some angle braces and use some other framing inside the wall to help support the portico without using columns. We finished it off with a bead board ceiling.

Another key piece to this James Hardie Minnesota siding project, was the window trim. We wrapped the existing wood sills with aluminum and added the James Hardie 4″ trim in Arctic White.
When it was time for the siding to go on, we installed James Hardie Aged Pewter ColorPlus lap siding in a 6″ reveal. This is a popular James Hardie Minnesota color. After the siding went up, we installed some custom made black recessed panel shutters. These shutters helped to add to the overall pop on the front of the home.
