This south Minneapolis siding project is one of the best examples of what our team of exterior experts does best: bringing back the original character and architecture of classic homes by using high-quality, durable and modern products and installation techniques. South Minneapolis is full of these older homes that just need the right products and contractor to bring them back.
A big part of this Minneapolis siding project, was adding insulation. Once the old siding was removed, we went a step further and removed the sheathing underneath. This gave us access to the stud cavities. We then insulated the home with a closed cell spray foam insulation. Closed cell foam allows you to achieve greater insulation values per inch than regular batt insulation. Once the foam was done, we installed new sheathing and wrapped the home with James Hardie House Wrap.
Now the fun part! This home had miles of trim. Our craftsmen worked on the siding trim on this job for almost three weeks before one piece of siding was installed! We installed James HardiePlank siding using 2 ½ inch exposure on the second story of the home and 4″ smooth on the first floor in the color Monterey Taupe. We also used James Hardie crown molding over the James Hardie fascia. We worked with the homeowner to bring back this home’s charm by rebuilding the dormer with an added curved fascia. James Hardie Siding is the only product that would allow us to get this detailed look with the durability that our Minnesota climate requires.
The gorgeous Arctic White trim was used throughout the home’s detailing. Finally, we reconstructed the dreamy front porch using IPE Brazilian hardwood. The transformation on this home was amazing. It appeared damaged and dilapidated beyond return, but it’s proof no home is a lost cause when our team takes over.
